Did you know chiropractic is great for kids?
Chiropractic care for kids is a great way to promote healthy living and deal with common childhood illnesses and injuries without using drugs or surgery. Chiropractic is perfectly safe for children. Think about it, how many tumbles and falls do children experience from before they turn 1 years old throughout childhood? A lot! Babies fall when they are learning to walk, toddlers tumble regularly while learning new activities, and kids are bumped around at playgrounds and in sports, and fall down often. These falls that may cause bumps and bruises do not always cause much pain or serious injury, however, they can cause misalignments in the spine called subluxations. These subluxations should be resolved in order for your child to continue to develop in a healthy way.
How Often Should Kids Get An Chiropractic Adjustment?
Regular chiropractic care can train a child’s bones, joints, nerves, and muscles to function to the best of their ability. Kids don’t need a lot of care because most kids are healthy without specific pain or conditions. Healthy kids should be seen once every other month just to keep their spine in healthy alignment.
What If Your Child Has An Accident Or Is Injured?
First, with any accident or injury, it is important for your child to see their doctor. But it is also important that they see a chiropractor. Kids with specific injury or illness should see a chiropractor sooner rather than later. Also if your kid is active in sports, I would recommend they see a chiropractor once monthly. Sports put a higher amount of stress on a child’s growing body, and chiropractic care will keep their body functioning at it’s peak. Chiropractic care helps the body to heal itself from activity, sports, injuries, illness, and other stresses our bodies endure.
Chiropractic has also been known to help common childhood illnesses including colic, ear infections, tonsillitis, digestive problems, and allergies. How? Because the health of their spine and the immune system are connected. Subluxations in the spine can cause communication issues between the nerves that run from the spinal cord to the organs and limbs. The tissues in these areas are eventually affected, and this is when we start to see some of the above conditions.
So, chiropractic is definitely great for kids, and it can be a drug-free way to keep your kids healthy. Additionally you may avoid potential side effects that a round of antibiotics can cause.
It is important to model and teach your kids how to live a healthy lifestyle. Chiropractic should be a part of your health regimen. Providing your child with the knowledge and showing them how to have and maintain a healthy body will be a gift that never stops giving.
