Are juice cleanses healthy? This is becoming a very popular question as more famous people claim to use juice cleanses for detoxifying and weight loss.
What are the top nutritional professionals saying? And what are the top recommendations to detox and lose weight?
Are Juice Cleanses Healthy? Watch this Video:
Nutrition experts state that foregoing food for a juice cleanse is an extreme approach to health and not a safe path to weight loss. “A special three-day cleanse won’t magically improve your body’s natural waste-removal system,” says Christine L. Frissora, a gastroenterologist at New York–Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, in New York City.
Even though juice cleanses are not recommended as healthy; juicing is one way to get a variety of organic fruits and vegetables into your daily diet. However, juicing should only be one part of a well-balanced diet which includes minimally processed foods, good-quality lean protein (organic if possible), and plenty of whole fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are like scrub brushes and are the real cleansers promoting body detoxification.
I have included some of my favorite recipes for juicing, including the best green juice recipe.
